Duck Gear Drawer Plans
The drawings behind the drawer system in the Logbook post: a two-drawer extrusion and plywood box with a fridge on top and a camp table in a slot, built from about $900 of Amazon parts as we did it, or closer to $500 with plastic drawers and yard plywood. The post has the story and the decisions. This has the numbers.
Once, when it's ready. Nothing else.
The drawings are being finished from the as-built box.
What's in it
Dimensioned drawings. Front, side and top of the frame as built, including the rebuild's table slot level, with the seat-back taper and the door-trim clearance called out.
Cut list. Every extrusion length for the frame and the slot level, net of connectors, with a buying list of 48" stock that covers it.
Connector map. Which joint gets a 3-way corner, a gusset or a hidden L-joint, and how many of each to order.
Drawer boxes. Plywood cut sheet for both boxes and fronts, slide positions, and a template for the paddle latch recess.
Tie-down layout. Bracket positions over the four OEM floor holes, bolt specs, and the rear eye-bolt and turnbuckle setup.
The slot. Slot height and clearance for the Dometic GO table in its stored state, and how the slot level frames into the box.
Details
Fits 2007 to 2014 FJ Cruiser cargo bay, anchored through the four factory tie-down holes. Nothing drilled.
Built around a Dometic CFX3 45 on an Alu-Cab tilting slide, a Dometic GO camp table and a Blackstone griddle. The drawings say which numbers to change if your gear is different.
Tools A saw that cuts aluminum (a portable bandsaw or a miter saw with a non-ferrous blade), a drill, a jigsaw, a paint roller.
Format PDF, printable at letter size. Delivered by email after checkout.
CAD version $45 adds the Shapr3D model and a STEP export of the box as built, for changing a dimension before you cut or adapting it to another truck.
Tolerances Every number comes from one truck and one box. Extrusion, plywood and FJs all vary by a hair, so check each dimension against your own gear and your own cargo bay before you cut, and expect to use some judgment along the way.
FAQ
Will it fit a 4Runner or a GX?
The frame adapts, and the FJ numbers are the ones that have been built and driven. Other trucks are on you until someone sends us a build.
Is the post enough to build from?
The post has the story, the parts and the lessons. The dimensions, cut list and templates are only here.
Can I share it?
One copy is for you. If a buddy wants to build one, send him here.
Is this a kit?
No. You buy the parts (the post lists exactly what we used) and cut them yourself. Plans only.
Will my numbers match yours exactly?
Close, not exact. Measure your own gear and bay against the drawings, cut the long pieces first and test fit before the short ones, and use common sense where your truck differs.
