Make more power
Five steps from today’s tires and gears to a plan you can keep. Leave anytime: your place saves with the plan.
The steps
- 1
Tires and gears today
What’s on the truck today?
Today’s tires and gears set how much of the engine’s power reaches the ground. The plan is measured from them.
- 2
Power mods
Which mods, and what do they really add?
Power lists the tunes, intakes, exhausts, headers and superchargers made for your engine. Each one shows the maker’s claim next to independent dyno tests where any exist, and its CARB status for California.

Gearing
Can the truck use the power?
Power helps where the engine can make it. Regear shows highway RPM on every ratio, and Crawl ratio how slow it creeps off road. You pick a ratio or keep the one you have.

On the road
What does it do on the road?
Fuel and range works out range per tank from your own fill-ups. If the tires changed, the speedometer reads off by the change in height.

Review and keep
What changed against Actual, cost and weight where known, and the open checks.
Each step opens a calculator with your truck filled in. Start with Power for the mods made for your engine, then Regear and Crawl ratio for the gears to use them, and Fuel and range and the Speedometer for what it does on the road. More power, answered
Why does the path start with tires and gears?
Because they set how much of the engine’s torque reaches the ground. Taller tires lengthen the lever at the wheel, so the same engine pushes the truck less hard. Power works out the pull for the weight against stock with your tires, gears and weight counted, so a mod is measured against the truck you actually drive.
Should I add power or regear?
A regear is what fixes bigger tires: deeper gears in proportion to the tire put the engine back where it was at every road speed. A power mod adds about the same share at every speed. The path shows both, Power first and then Regear and Crawl ratio, and you pick one, both or neither.
Which numbers does Power count for a mod?
Makers publish their best result. Where independent dyno tests exist, Power shows them next to the maker’s claim and counts their median; where none do, it counts the claim, labeled. Every product shows its California status: its CARB Executive Order number, or that it has none.

Many numbers are estimates worked out from factory figures, and some factory figures are not yet confirmed. Check every number against your own truck, its manuals and a qualified shop before you buy parts, cut, weld, lift, regear or drive on it.
